Natural light changes across a day, and across days. Even a controlled indoor setup near a window experiences shifting light temperature and intensity as the sun moves or as weather changes, which can subtly shift color from morning to afternoon, even with white balance set at the start.
Bulbs and lighting equipment change slightly over time. Continuous lighting sources, especially older or heavily used ones, can drift in color temperature as they age or heat up during a long shoot, producing a session that starts one way and ends slightly differently.
Camera settings get unintentionally adjusted between sessions. A shoot that spans multiple days often gets set up fresh each time, and small differences in exact camera position, white balance reading, or exposure settings accumulate across sessions even when everyone involved believes they’re replicating the previous setup exactly.
